Tributes Continue for Rob and Michele Reiner as Autopsy Reports Face a Security Hold.
More than two weeks after the tragic deaths of celebrated filmmaker Rob Reiner and his wife, photographer Michele Reiner, friends and colleagues are still paying respects to the pair.
Quoting a Classic: Cary Elwes Pays Tribute to His Director
Writing on Instagram, actor Cary Elwes, who starred in Reiner's beloved 1987 film *The Princess Bride*, mentioned he finally felt ready to post publicly about his profound loss.
"Enough time has elapsed that I can at last articulate my loss into words," wrote Elwes, adding that his first meeting with Reiner created an instant bond. "Once we started sharing more moments together I realized this was someone I desired in my life."
The actor uploaded never-before-seen clips from the movie, commenting that he cannot recall "any day without mirth".
"This story is about devotion, fidelity and selflessness. Principles that Rob cherished deeply. This is one of the many reasons he was the best person to direct it," Elwes wrote.
He went on to praise Michele Reiner, saying: "To say that they were a great team would be an oversimplification. My heart still aches every time I think of you." He ended with a quote from *The Princess Bride*: "Indeed, death cannot stop true love but existence is agony without you."
Martin Scorsese Recalls a Fellow Artist
In a distinct tribute, legendary director Martin Scorsese also honored Reiner, whom he originally knew in the 1970s.
"From the start, I loved being with Rob. We had a innate rapport for each other. He was uproarious and sometimes sharply witty, but he was never the kind of guy who would take over the room," Scorsese shared.
Scorsese mentioned Reiner's cameo appearance in his 2013 film *The Wolf of Wall Street*, playing the father of the protagonist.
"His improvisation skills with the best. He was a expert at comedy, he worked beautifully with his co-stars, and he understood the personal struggle of his character," Scorsese noted.
Legal Developments: Autopsy Reports Restricted
Recently, a Los Angeles judge decided to bar the publication of the Reiners' autopsy reports, after an appeal from the LAPD.
A legal directive put a embargo on the files to restrict the public release of "related notes, evidence and photographs" pertaining to the ongoing investigation.
The Medical Examiner's office had previously confirmed their deaths were the outcome of foul play, with a record citing the cause as "multiple sharp force injuries".
Aftermath and Reactions
In the wake of the tragedy, public personalities expressed different comments.
Ex-President Donald Trump wrote on the matter, making controversial remarks that were met with immediate backlash by numerous commentators.
Podcaster Joe Rogan lent his criticism to the detractors recently. Speaking on his show, Rogan characterized the comments as "disappointing" and suggested they showed a worrisome lack of empathy.
Rogan concluded by suggesting that an adviser should have intervened when the choice to weigh in on the passing was made.
