The relatives of teens lost after a tragic inferno at a venue in a Switzerland's alpine town are confronting an agonising period of uncertainty for official news and requesting information about their family members online.

The fire devastated the a popular bar in the alpine resort, located in the mountains of south-west Switzerland, in the early hours of January 1st. Circulated footage show the roof structure catching alight as bottles with fireworks are raised in celebration.

Authorities have warned that it could take an extended period to formally name the those who perished of the tragedy, which claimed the lives of 40 people and wounded another scores more. Officials stated on the latest update that 113 of the those hurt have been identified, with work still underway to identify the other six.
