Young golfer preparing for major competition

Kai Trump can count on multiple high-profile supporters when she begins her LPGA debut later this week.

The 18-year-old athlete, who happens to be the granddaughter of a former US president, was granted a sponsor's invitation to play at the Annika tournament in the Sunshine State.

The former president, someone who loves golf, operates multiple international courses and frequently competes against his granddaughter.

"He's fairly competent. I can't reveal details but we have tight competitions," she mentioned.

She mentioned that Trump, unable to come, counseled her: "Simply avoid anxiety."

"He practically suggested to play and relax," she added.

"From my perspective, he's simply an ordinary family member. He can't make it for the tournament. He's busy with presidential duties, making him quite busy."

As an amateur, Kai has played in only three events in 2024 and has the 461st position in the American Junior Golf Association listings.

But she's able to receive tips from Tiger Woods, who is dating Kai's mother.

"He represents the best player worldwide," the young golfer said.

"Additionally, he's a more impressive person. He advised me to compete, enjoy myself, and go with the flow."

Kai will face multiple the biggest names in professional golf at this tournament, featuring world number two the champion, England's golfer Hull, Lexi Thompson and 2023 champion champion Vu.

Tournament organizers commented that her participation helps introduce golf to different demographics, specifically reaching youth audiences.

Kai has substantial online presence and just introduced an exclusive clothing and lifestyle brand.

She begins at late afternoon GMT.
