FC Barcelona to Host Inaugural Fixture at Upgraded Camp Nou over the weekend
Barcelona have announced their first game will take place at the still-under-construction Camp Nou over the weekend. They will welcome the Basque side in domestic competition 30 months following their departure for construction to commence.
“We’ve dreamed about the return. Now, it’s here. We’re back home. Back at Spotify Camp Nou.”
Not all seats will be available but 45,401 spectators are permitted inside under the licence granted. When completed, the Camp Nou is due to hold over 104,000 attendees, a rise from the old capacity. Officials confirmed finished work included an updated entryway for the team plus modern locker rooms.
Preparatory Events
Barcelona held an open training session on the home pitch in early November. Officials stated they are seeking authorization from European football’s governing body for their upcoming Champions League fixture versus the German side in December at the stadium. Their recent games have been held at Estadio Olímpic Lluís Companys.
